Studio Services
At Tone Worx, I provide a range of audio production services ranging from recording to mixing & mastering with everything in between. If you're just looking to record and take the files with you or completing an entire album from start to finish, I have you covered.

Recording
(per hr)
Here we start by capturing vocal and instrumental performances by placing the right microphone in front of the sound source. We may use more than one mic or inputs depending if its a mono or stereo source or if we just want to have more options for mixing down the road.
Instruments commonly recorded are:
-
Vocals
-
Drums
-
Guitars (Acoustic, Electric)
-
Electric Bass
-
Synths/Keyboards
-
Percussion
Room acoustics have a big roll during this process which in a non treated room can have a negative impact on the sound we're aiming for. Making sure we do this right from the beginning is crucial to having a song sound professional.

Audio Editing
(per hr or remote quote)
A lot of people try to jump straight in to mixing after recording or receiving files but there's usually some things needed to clean up first. This may include:
-
Performance Timing
-
Pitch correction (Auto-Tune)
-
De-clicking (Audio Pops, mouth noises)
-
De- plosive (Mic plosive pops, mic bumps)
-
Vocal Alignment (Tightening Doubles and Stacks)
-
De-Breath (Adjusting loud breaths)
-
De-Hum
-
De-Noise

Mixing
(per hr or remote quote)
Once we have all of the elements that are going to be in the arrangement, we can begin to balance the song by adjusting volumes and panning right or left each track so each instrument can be heard. After balancing we can decide to add processing to each track by:
-
Equalization
-
Compression
-
Saturation
-
Limiting
This will help to tonal shape and add dynamic control. To make elements feel like they're in a space or feel wider we add:
-
Reverb (Room, Hall, Plates, Chambers, Spring)
-
Stereo Widener
-
Doubler
-
Chorus Effect
For creative parts we can add special effects such as:
-
Delays
-
Pitch Shifts
-
Stutters/Glitches
-
Reverse Effects
-
Filters
At the end of this process we should have a captivating song that sounds smooth not harsh, full, wide and focused.

Mastering
$35 per Song
Here we get the song ready to go out to the world and get it ready for the streaming platforms. We will check one last time for audio imperfections that may have been missed. We will make final touches with high-end mastering grade tools to the entire song, no longer looking at each individual track but adjusting the frequency balance and dynamic peaks as a whole to add clarity and perceived volume. The final volume will be determined based on the song and genre it adheres to along with the relative volume of the rest of the songs in the project. Crossfades and transitions from one song to another will also be looked at here. Once we're done, you'll receive the .wav file(s) to upload your music.
